Marie Curie is now known as a famous chemist and physicist. She was notable for her theory of radioactivity; techniques for isolating isoptopes, and the discovery of two new elements, polonium and radium. She was the first person to be awarded two Noble Prizes in diverse fields of science(chemistry and physics). Her first Noble Prize was in physics and was awarded to her and her husband in 1903. The award was for their study into the spontaneous radiation discovery. The second Noble Prize was in chemistry and was awarded to Marie Curie in 1911 in recognition of her work in radioactivity. Marie Curie also received a Davy Medal in 1903, a Matteucci Medal in 1904 and a Elliott Cresson Medal in 1909.
